Two days give Cappadocia the time it deserves: the rock churches of Göreme and the panorama from Uçhisar on the first day, a night in a boutique hotel – and on the second morning, if you wish, the ascent in a hot-air balloon before the fairy chimneys, Devrent Valley and Avanos.

Full description

Early in the morning we pick you up at your hotel in Istanbul and take you to the airport. After the domestic flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir, your guide and your vehicle with driver are waiting. The first day leads through Pigeon Valley to Uçhisar and its castle rock and on to the Göreme Open-Air Museum with its Byzantine rock churches and frescoes, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You spend the evening and night in a 4-star boutique hotel.

On the second morning you can float 500 to 1,000 metres above the valleys in a hot-air balloon at sunrise – in a small group, with a drink and flight certificate. Afterwards we visit the fairy chimneys of Paşabağ and Zelve, Devrent Valley and the little town of Avanos on the Kızılırmak. The evening flight takes you back to Istanbul, and we bring you to your hotel.

Visits to carpet, jewellery or leather businesses are expressly not part of this tour. Your time belongs to the biblical and historical sites and the content of your study tour, not to sales rooms.

Only at the express request of the group or individual travellers do we arrange such a visit separately, outside the programme. The shuttle or taxi is then paid for by the shop concerned.

Our advice: Be wary of conspicuously cheap tour offers. They are often subsidised by commissions from sales visits – with compulsory shopping stops, sales pressure and frequently inflated prices. Never buy under time pressure, compare prices and insist on a receipt and a certificate of authenticity.

Meeting point

On the first day we pick you up early in the morning at your hotel in Istanbul, and on the second day we bring you back there after the evening flight. The exact pick-up time depends on the flight times.

You will recognise me by the sign “MeinReiseleiter.de” and the visibly worn guide licence. We confirm meeting point and time with your booking.

• Balloon flight – The balloon flight is not private – the basket is shared with other guests. It only takes place in suitable weather, and the authorities may cancel at short notice. Children usually from 6 years.
• ID – You need an ID document for the domestic flight.
• Names as in the passport – When booking, please enter the first and last names of all travellers exactly as in the passport – they are used for the flight tickets.
• Luggage – Hand luggage for one night is enough.
• Clothing – Comfortable shoes; a warm jacket for the balloon flight.
• Age – The tour is suitable from 3 years.
