Termessos and Karain Cave

Two journeys through time in one day: in Termessos we climb to the Pisidian mountain city with its theatre above the gorge. In Karain Cave we stand where people sought shelter as early as the Old Stone Age.

Full description

Termessos lies in the Güllük Dağı National Park. A stony path takes us to the gymnasium, cisterns and the theatre on the edge of the gorge, one of the most impressive in Turkey.

At the foot of the mountains lies Karain Cave. Finds spanning several hundred thousand years show how long people lived here; the small museum at the entrance explains the excavations. A path with steps leads up to the cave.
